Today’s episode will take a different approach, leaning toward how individuals can get involved with their paddling environments through Citizen Science. Today I’m talking with Scott Baxter and Matt Kahabka about their circumnavigation of Utah’s Great Salt Lake and why this trip was important.

While you or I may not live near the Great Salt Lake, the opportunity we can all take away from this episode is that we can each make a difference in our home waters. If you’ve never heard of the term Citizen Science, it’s an opportunity where you can contribute to the scientific community without being a scientist yourself. As kayakers, we can often get to places that research vessels cannot, and the information we can collect on their behalf can make a difference. I encourage you to Citizenscience.gov or Google Citizen Science in your area.
